Chris qualified as a physiotherapist 17 years ago and has worked privately for the last 11 years. Sport was the catalyst behind Chris moving into physiotherapy, he represented Great Britain in White-water Canoe Slalom and then went onto both coach and provide physiotherapy for the Team. Over the years he has treated a number of elite athletes in both Sport and also in Theatre and Dance.
Physiotherapy can vary in therapists approaches, some physiotherapists are more “hands off” and mainly prescribe exercises, others are more “hands on”. Chris has a very “hands on” / manual therapy approach to his practice. This approach includes a combination of soft tissue massage, joint mobilisations and other “hands on” techniques. He users this approach coupled with rehabilitation programmes to ensure that patients are appropriately managed.
Diagnosis is everything where physiotherapy is concerned, Chris will take you through a comprehensive assessment and will discuss with you the varying treatment options. This may include a combination of manual therapy and advice on rehabilitation exercises. Following your assessment we will email you a personal exercise plan which includes videos and images, this way it’s really clear what you have to do. He will always integrate his practice into personal programmes at the gym to ensure that where possible, attendance at the gym is not restricted.
